Statement by Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen on Canada Day 2010
June 30th, 2010 - 11:13am
“Tomorrow, Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast will honour and celebrate our great country.
Here in the Northwest, we are daily reminded of the rugged beauty and strength of spirit that define Canada. Our rich ecosystems and extraordinary communities make Skeena-Bulkley Valley an incredible piece of the planet and I am so proud to be your Member of Parliament.
Whether you’ve been here all your life or are observing your first Canada Day, I encourage everyone to take time on July 1st to reflect on and appreciate the shared values that make our country what it is. Values like diversity, tolerance and social justice. Respect for one another. And the belief that we all belong. Diana and I are so thankful our babies will be born into a country in which these values are able to flourish.
Finally, as we celebrate July 1st, let’s also recommit ourselves to working together to keep Canada great for generations to come.
I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday.
Happy 143rd Birthday, Canada!”
