DAWSON CREEK– Noting that a green economy is key to recovery and renewal, Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen launched the Northwest Green Economy Task Force to rousing enthusiasm at North Central Municipal Association meetings in Dawson Creek.
“Local governments realize the old system that helped propel Canada into our current crippling economic crisis isn’t the way out,” Cullen said today from the 54th annual NCMA convention.
“Municipal leaders are as excited as I am by the possibilities of the green economy and our new working group.”
Cullen said his task force will enable communities across north central British Columbia to prepare for the jobs of tomorrow while protecting those of today.
He expects his work as co-chair of the national Economic Recovery Task Force the NDP established in March will greatly assist the northern BC task force he launched yesterday.
While in Dawson Creek, Cullen also met with mayors to talk about his efforts to speed the delivery of federal funding to municipalities to help stimulate local economies
